May part 2

Finally!! On May 20th, its Daddy's graduation MSEE. Lizzy, Daddy, Mommy, Grandpa Jim, Ramona,  Grandma Bonnie, Grandpa Olin, Grandma Roxy, Grumpa Corey, and Stephen all went and had appetizers at Sagra. Lizzy demonstrated her walking at the restaurant. After some good food and drinks we all walked to Daddy's graduation.

By the end Lizzy was very sleepy, but managed to stay up way past her bedtime so that she could congratulate her Da. As soon as she got in Da's arms she fell right to sleep and didn't even wake up until the next morning.

The next week, Lizzy went on her first plane ride to Las Vegas to go to Cindy's wedding (Mommy and Daddy's good friend)! She did great on the plane ride, her favorite part was playing with the people behind our seat. However, I think she thought not getting her own seat was kind of lame. Notice Lizzy's hand in the picture below, yup I think she is giving us the bird.

Lizzy did the usual Vegas things: walked down the strip,

looked at the hotels,

went to an aquarium, played in the pool, and played the slots.

By the end of May, Lizzy could go from sitting to standing to walking all unassisted. Its pretty amazing to think at the beginning of the month she had just started to stand unassisted. Now this big girl walks, squats to pick up a toy, and then stands up to continue walking across the room.

May week 1

OK, I am going to try to publish the blog more this month and next as Lizzy's first year is coming to a close. I can't believe she is 10.5 months already. Mommy lost her phone the first part of this month so we are a little light on pictures. Here's a recap.

We had a small scare at the beginning of the month, Glenn's b-day present that we ordered online was canceled so we had one week to find her boy a cool toy. We went to a very fun toy store and luckily found a gift easily- what a relief, our girl was a bit stressed. The next day we went to the Children's museum with her grandma Bonnie and she showed her Grandma what a good crawler and puller self upper she has become.

On Wednesday the 4th was Glenn's actual b-day and we brought him cupcakes that afternoon and checked out his new cool toys. Lizzy started standing while we were celebrating all on her own, she stood all on her own for about 45 seconds while not holding onto anything. Its a bit blurry because she is moving too much, but here she has just let go of holding onto the couch and is standing all by her self.

Yesterday we went to the children's museum with her daddy, grandma Bonnie and grandpa Jim- What a blast! We also went to the farmers market and ate lunch with them all. Lizzy loved eating her first sweet potato fries.

After wards  we went to Glenn's First b-day pirate party. Lizzy took care of Glenn and politely offered him a napkin after he smashed his smash cake. Later that evening Lizzy got a bit to into the ravioli Thea had made them so Glenn had to then offer her a napkin. I can't wait to share these photo's. :) For now though, here's Argh.. Lizzy celebrating Glenn's big day.

April

I can't believe another month has past by already. Here's a recap of Lizzy's first April.

To start off the first weekend in April right, we went and met Mr. Easter Bunny! It was love at first sight and she was very upset when we left. Glenn was a little upset by how into the Easter bunny she was, so it wasn't very surprising that he wasn't very into this Easter bunny.

Saturday April 2, we went to her first Renaissance festival near Elgin. She was a little fairy princess and attended her first fairy tea party.

The next weekend wasn't as eventful, but we did go to swim class and do a bunch of shopping. Mommy and Lizzy had to get out of the house so that the daddy could study in peace. Lizzy did reach a new milestone this month, she is eating big girl food and feeding herself! Oh, no look it her raiding the refrigerator already:

The weekend of April 16, Lizzy and Glenn had their first Easter Egg hunt. They did very well at eating the eggs and even got a couple in their baskets all by themselves. Look at these cuties sharing already!

Easter weekend, her grandma Roxy and grumpa Corey came up from Houston to visit her. We went to the Children's museum, farmers market and played and played. On Sunday, Lizzy opened her Easter basket and eggs at home. Then we went to her grandma Bonnies and grandpa Olins for the official egg hunt fun.

Of course we had to dress her up for her first Easter. Here's her and her Grandpa Jim on Easter Sunday afternoon:

January

New years eve, just a few hours before midnight she got up on all fours and that was just the beginning.

This was the month of eating everything. Before this month she had only eaten bananas, sweet potatoes, rice, and oatmeal. Now she has also tried butter nut squash, peas, carrots, pears, peaches and prunes!

Aside from eating food, she really embraced her inner goat this month and put anything she could get her hands on in her mouth.

On December 21st, mommy gave her very first cold but it didn't slow her down (poor miss sniffles) she finally sat for about 15 minutes and played her drums.

The three days later she crawled. Go Lizzy Go!

This week, the last week of the month, she began daycare. Today was her first day at the Round Rock Montessori. She had a great day, didn't shed a tear and was having a great time when I picked her up. There is another little girl that's just a few weeks younger then Lizzy and  they smiled, coo-ed to each other.

February

Busy Lizzy was very busy this month of course! She continued to crawl, be a social butterfly, eat many new foods and get cuter and cuter everyday and managed to learn just as many new things this month as last month!

Every Tuesday and Thursday we took a baby swim class at the YMCA at Town Lake called the shrimp class. Lizzy loved kicking her legs like a little frog, laying comfortably on her back, and jumping into the pool from a seated position. We sang her favorite song: "wheels on the bus" every class and she got to chew rubber ducky's and diving rings.

We had to miss one of our swim classes, because there was fear that the roads would get icy. The next morning we woke up and it snowed! It was a bit cold, but we bundled up to check out her first snow.

On the week of Feb 7, Daddy and Mommy had to move her crib down to the lowest position because she learned how to pull her self up.  She practiced her pulling up skills so much that by the end of February she began to "cruise" the furniture (walk while holding on to furniture) and got more than one bruise.

On February 15, she waved good bye to a little 1.5 year old (Elena) at day care and then she waved hello to her friend Juno at swim class. Now she waves at almost every kid she sees, her doggies, and a few lucky adults.

February 17, Lizzy and mommy took their first road trip together to go visit Grandma Roxy and Grumpa in Houston. Lizzy slept most of the ride but boy when we got to Houston during rush hour she was done with the long trip. We pulled over and Grandma and Grumpa met us so that Grandma could ride in the back and cheer Lizzy up. When we got to Grandma's house, aunt Morgan was there to meet us and boy did Lizzy love smiling and her pretty aunts amazing hair. We went shopping, visited Grumpa's work, went to the Zoo (she was more impressed by the kids visiting the zoo then the animals), and she even grossed out her aunt and Grumpa by chewing a slice of bread until it was mush.

The last week of February, Grandma Bonnie went to swim class to see Lizzy swim, and was very impressed with how comfortable she was in the water.

March

We started a new swim class every sat at the ymca closer to the house. Since its on Sat, daddy gets to go and he has almost taught her to blow bubbles!

On March 6, we went to the Zilker Kite festival and Lizzy tried her first pita bread. She loves bread just like her Daddy. There wasn't much wind for the kites but Lizzy had a great time looking at all the people. After, we brought her to her first Music concert (Ian played to raise money for the clean water for Malawi project). She was a little scared by the load music but then started to really enjoy it and jump and crawl around. She sat with three of her great aunts and charmed everyone in the room.

The next week she spent with her Grandpa and uncle Ian who was in town from Whales. Ian bought her an amazing Giraffe named Gerald and sang many songs to her. Ian also told us that in Whales, there is a flower called "busy Lizzy" and here they are called impatience.  Lizzy is certainly busy and sometimes a little impatient. We will have to plant several of Lizzy's flowers soon.

Here's Lizzy and Uncle E

The week of Spring Break, her Grandma Bonnie watched her two days and they had a great time. She pushed a baby around her stroller and played and played.

Her Daddy took off three days with her and her mommy took off 2. We went to a St. Patrick's day festival and planted a garden. Lizzy's started saying hi when she waves hello.

Then last week of the month Lizzy completed several mile stones.  On March 26, she actually chewed her Cherio's without swallowing them and ate chunks of banana and mango. On March 27 Lizzy stood twice all by herself. Then on March 28, she stood and took her first step. That same day she started clapping!

Here is our big girl eating a California roll!

Lizzy's First Christmas

The Christmas Season was a very busy holiday for our little Lady Bug Queen. She saw Santa Clause three times.

We did so much driving and shopping Lizzy had to help out with the driving.

We went to her first Armadillo Christmas Bazaar with Thea, Glenn and her Grandpa Jim.

On Christmas Eve, we went over to Lael's and had ham and yummy cheesy potatoes while Lizzy cooed and said dadadadada. Lizzy played with her cousin's Shannon and Alex who gave her her first pair of fairy wings. Ramona gave her a spinning top and grandpa Jim gave her first art piece for her room.

On Christmas Day, she opened her first present from Santa Clause.  She got many toys, one of her favorites was a stuffed cow.

Afterwords, we went to her grandpa Olin's and she played with cousin's Lars and Emily, and Auntie K. She also snuggled her Grandma Bonnie and uncle E.

The day after Christmas, her Grandma Roxy and Grumpa visited. She got many amazing Queen like dresses and a walker.  Her Aunt Morgan gave her her first Madeline book, a sure future favorite.
